Special Court Agreement, 2002 (Ratification) Act, 2002
The implementing legislation for the Special Court was passed on Tuesday, 19 March 2002 and assented to by the President on 29 March 2002. The legislation was subsequently amended, pursuant to an agreement between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Nations to amend the Agreement establishing the Special Court. The amendment to the Special Court Agreement, 2002 (Ratification) Act, 2002 entered into force on 15 July 2002.
This legislation acts as Sierra Leone's internal ratification of the Agreement for the Special Court, as required by the Sierra Leone Consitution. In addition, it provides the framework by which Sierra Leone authorities may work with the Special Court within Sierra Leone.
